Almost everyone has heard the story about the lucky few who dropped out of college and made it big. Bill Gates and Steven Jobs are perfect examples of this. But what about those people who drop out of high school? Are they still able to enjoy a life of luxuriousness and fame? Below, we are going to talk about the top 10 celebrities who dropped out of high school and still found their way into fame and fortune.


10. Kate Beckinsale




You’ve probably seen her as the vampire in Underworld and she is an incredibly talented actress. Kate Beckinsale decided to drop out of high school because she wasn’t able to balance her acting into her schedule. She came to the conclusion that to enjoy what she really loved to do (act) she would need to give up something. Fortunately, the plan worked out and she is a famous actress who succeeded in her own right.


9. Jessica Biel




If you’ve ever watched 7th Heaven then you already know about Jessica Biel. She was an actress, who early in her career, decided that it was worth more to her to chase acting than to stay in school. And while her reasons for dropping out are still unknown, she did seem to use this as motivation for her career.


8. Anne Hathaway




Most of us remember Anne from the movie Princess Diaries. She’s also played in a few other popular hits including The Devil Wears Prada and Brokeback Mountain. Hathaway won an academy award for her voice in the Simpsons, which is something that not a lot of people know about. Once Anne decided that school was unnecessary, she dropped out and quickly followed her passion. That is when she got casted for The Devil Wears Prada. The rest, as they say, is history.


7. Kelsey Grammer




Even though he may have a feminine name, Kelsey Grammer is about as “manly” as they come. One of his more prominent roles was on Cheers, which also managed to snag him work on spin-off shows. And although he has had a tough life, he’s accumulated a descent amount of success. His mother abused substances and most of his family died. And while he was very skilled in acting, school was something that he dreaded. Even after dropping out, he still went one to receive 14 nominations for the Emmy’s.


6. Michael Fassbender




Michael Fassbender was the star of a few different movies including Inglorious and 300. He was also in the movie X-Men: First Class. Despite all of his acting ability and charm, Fassbender is not one for the books. He never fancied taking the standard approach to things and because of that, he decided to drop out of school at a young age. He was always intrigued by movies and took drama class, which was a few of his motivations for wanting to become an actor. He could quite easily be considered the most accomplished dropout in Hollywood.

You probably know him from Forest Gump and Cast Away. Tom Hanks is the epitome of incredible acting and he is definitely in the upper class of the acting super nation. He’s been in almost every kind of movie that you can think of and is very accomplished as a person in general. If you are an actor who has dropped out of high school then it will probably be a good idea to take some notes from Tom. After dropping out, he interned at a theatre three years and eventually made his way onto the big screen.

We all know how Johnny Depp is. He’s played in Pirates of the Caribbean as well as a few other Hollywood hits. While some people claim that his success is because of the facial hair, the truth is that he is simply an incredible actor. Johnny Depp can bring certain characters to the table that other actors simply wouldn’t be able to pull off. And despite dropping out of high school to focus on music, he quickly realized that his destiny was in the film industry. He’s been rich and famous ever since.


3. Leonardo DiCaprio




Whenever you think of Inception or Titanic, you probably see Leonardo’s face pop up. After all, he does have a lot of money and he is good-looking- but that isn’t why he became famous. The truth is that DiCaprio is an incredibly diverse actor who can play almost any character you give you. Try watching Shutter Island and you will see why. He dropped out of high school when he was a junior and has been an “A-List” actor ever since.

Clint Eastwood is a legend and deserves all of the awards and achievements that people bestow upon him. He’s been in many classic movies, with “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” being one of them. His acting career began in high school, when he was taking drama class. He actually hated it so bad that he vowed to never do it again. Nonetheless, he found it as an easy way to make a good living. After moving in and out of homes and going to the army, he decided to try his hand at Western films, where he quickly gained recognition.

Last but certainly not least on our list is Harrison Ford. Not only is he an exceptional actor, he has many credible achievements including getting ranked number one on the “Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time” as well as grossing over 3 billion dollars for all of his films combined. Like most similar stories, Ford quickly realized that there was more opportunity as an actor than staying in school, and that’s exactly what he did- drop out. Fortunately, he has been a legend of an actor ever since.
